The triple procession around the table echoes the original wedding procession after the sacrament, in which the newly married couple was "officially" installed into their new home, led by the priest and accompanied by the faithful, who sang church hymns along the way. The symbolic procession today signifies the newly married couple's entrance into a new reality in the Kingdom of God as husband and wife. The priest leads the couple and their sponsors around the table three times, which expresses the truth that no one is saved alone but in community. Their love is being transformed into a relationship that is identified with the love of Christ for His Church. Three hymns accompany the triple circling. The first hymn celebrates the incarnation of Christ and praises the participation of the Mother of God in that process. In the second, the victoriously crowned martyrs are asked to pray for our salvation, that the couple and all of us may live a life worthy to be crowned in Heaven. The third hymn glorifies Christ, who is our boast and our joy. It is interesting to not that these hymns are also sung in the sacrament of ordination.
