Jesus And Zacchaeus
(Luke 19:1-10)
Jesus had declared that he came especially
For the sheep which had gone astray, that is,
For the sinners who were willing to repent.
Such a man was Zaccchaeus. He was the
Chief among the publicans in Jericho and
He was rich.
One day Jesus passed through Jericho.
Zacchaeus sought to see Jesus, but he could
Not because he was short. So, he ran ahead
And climbed up into a sycamore tree so that
He could have a better glimpse of Jesus.
When Jesus came close to Zacchaeus, he
Looked up at him and said "Zacchaeus, make
Haste and come down; for today I must abide
At thy house."
Zacchaeus came down and received Jesus
Joyfully.
When the Pharisees saw this, they mur-
Mered that Jesus was to be the guest of a
Man who was a simmer.
Zacchaeus, very happy for the honor,
Stood before the Lord and said "Behold
Lord, the half of my goods I give to the
Poor…" Jesus then said "This day is a sal-
vation come to this house…For the son
Of man is come to seek and to save that
Which was lost."

Pain tells me there is something wrong
When it is time for us to grow we get restless. When it is
time for us to move forward we get tense. When the time
comes for us to let go of the things we know are holding us
back, all hell breaks loose. Unfortunately, we sometimes
misunderstand what we are feeling and use it as a reason to
stay where we are. Nothing forces us to move faster than pain.
Restlessness is pain. Tension is pain. Hell breaking loose
is a sign that pain is on the way. When we are in pain we
must do something to make ourselves feel better. And if the
old remedy does not work, we must try something new. Too
many times we have cut ourselves down to fit into the
situation. Fixing ourselves to stay where we are is the
very situation. Fixing ourselves to stay where we are is
the very source of our pain. If we allow ourselves to live
with a constant, dull ache, it means we are not getting
the message. But you can be sure all dull aches eventually
turn into a throbbing pain.
Lord, make me so uncomfortable that I will do the very
thing I fear
